Belarus is, I am ashamed to admit, a country I could not point to on a map with any more than 50 per cent confidence of being right. Fortunately, my geography is not being tested tonight. Just my patience and endurance levels.

20.41

Jack, the To Do List cat, just looked at the TV with complete disdain.

I already can’t remember the French song.

20.18

Lithuania next. Could that be cheap? The song is “Something”. Instantly forgettable is the first impression.

20.16

So, France kick things off properly, and she appears to be wearing a shredded vinyl collection. It’s one of those songs that you think might go somewhere, but doesn’t. She’s in the Engelbert graveyard slot, and won’t win.

20.14

Rupert has also told me what to expect during the interval. All I’m saying is: meatballs and milk.

20.13

Update from Rupert: “Vote somewhere cheap”.

So, yes, the message here is that Sweden is a tad expensive. We think Romania might be cheap, anyone know for sure?

20.12

The jokes are coming thick and fast from Petra, who has only just got around to welcoming us to Malmö. The voting system is being explained now. Remember you can’t vote for the UK – DON’T EVEN TRY! And we can’t vote by text either, no idea why…

20.10

No ABBA tonight apparently. Sad face.

Yes, that’s right, no co-presenter – and I bet she’ll make a big deal out of it, as she did for the semi finals.

20.07

Sedated it may be (and I think Graham may have fallen asleep for a minute there), but it is kinda pretty. But enough of this, we’ll be here all night at this rate!

20.07

Quite a sedated start to proceedings, so I’m glad I didn’t polish off a bottle of wine watching Doctor Who, or I might be asleep by now.

20.04

And here’s the choir. See, all that money spent on sending Rupert to send us reports from the Arena paid off. At least, until he has his 14th alcopop and forgets how to use his phone.

20.03

While we wait for our choir ‘prediction’ to come true (or not), pretty pictures of a long bridge. And Graham is sounding well tonight, not too boozed. Yet.

20.01

Well, here we go, Eurovision is live, and I know what you’re thinking: I wish things would kick off with a huge choir. Well…

19.59

By the way, if you’re not in front of a TV, you can catch the show live online at http://www.eurovision.tv/page/webtv?program=83843

19.58

To Do List Editor Rupert is in the Malmö Arena. He tells us “4 minutes to go and it’s like a gay club in here”. Well, duh!

19.56

Anyone who has ever criticised the standard of the music at Eurovision should be forced to watch this vomit inducing Status Quo performance on BBC1 right now. Bonnie, you may have less than no chance of winning, but you’re way better than this!

19.52

Well, I’ll be damned if I’m live blogging the lottery numbers. So here are some far more important figures – the starting order for tonight:

The Running Order for the Grand Final

The running order is as follows:

France

Lithuania

Moldova

Finland

Spain

Belgium

Estonia

Belarus

Malta

Russia

Germany

Armenia

The Netherlands

Romania

United Kingdom

Sweden

Hungary

Denmark

Iceland

Azerbaijan

Greece

Ukraine

Italy

Norway

Georgia

Ireland

19.51

Wait a minute: there’s a Status Quo film? Yes, apparently, it’s true! So, it’s an old cliche, but I think we can firmly agree that the only way is up this evening. Compared to Bula Quo (!!!!!), Eurovision 2013 cannot fail to be one of the most important cultural events of the century.

19.47

Just the Lottery show to get through – how do they make this last 15 minutes? Ever relevant, the guests are Status Quo.

19.44

WELL THAT MADE NO SENSE! But hey, it is Doctor Who, what else would you expect. Right then, 15 minutes to go… Excited much?

19.00

It being Sweden, we can be pretty sure there will be some reference to ABBA tonight. But exactly how much of a reference? We’ve heard from our Malmö correspondent, and apparently there was a strange Winner Takes It All performance by some random at the Jury Final last night – a placeholder for something very special tonight? Anyway, Doctor Who time, see you in 45!

18.31

Still waiting for some news from our Malmö correspondent… hopefully he’s seamlessly infiltrating the thronging Euro-masses. Or getting drunk.

18.17

There are not many more than 100 minutes to go until Eurovision 2013 kicks off, by which time we will also almost certainly NOT know the Name of the Doctor.

18.06

I JUST LEARNED SOMETHING! See, I always thought Dionne Warwick pronounced her surname badly because she was American. Now, Pointless tells me her surname is Warrick, and she took Warwick after it was mistakenly printed with the W on her first single release. So maybe she has a good excuse. I’m still not entirely convinced…

17.53

I’m just going to throw this one out there: is the benefit brought about by the inclusion of cardamom pods in microwaveable rice sufficient to justify the horrible experience of biting into one? Just asking.

Anyway, I’m fed! Now, just ned to start the booze consumption – gently does it, but you need a tipple on Eurovision night and, hey, it’s almost 6pm! Stop judging me!

17.02

I’ve got that Christmas Eve feeling – I just can’t wait for the fun to begin! Alas, it’s not even Doctor Who time – and there’s only so much Come Dine With Me you can take… Might need a quick walk around the block to dissipate some of this Eurovision excitement!

16.47

If you want to join our Eurovision Live Blog FUN later, email stu@todolist.org.uk or tweet us @ToDolistLive or @StuDoList.

16.35

No updates yet from Rupert (To Do List Editor) who is in Malmö – but here’s a picture he took at the Jury Final last night (I know, who knew?!) to whet your appetite.
Head down to Epsom to fritter a few pennies away on the horses. Now, we know, this doesn’t sound like regular To Do List fare, BUT WAIT: on July 4th you can watch men ride around on animals, and then dance to the inimitable sounds of Bananarama! We kid you not!

Theatre, Darlings!

Trek up to Stratford-upon-Avon for a day in the (kind of) North, and take in a show at the home of the RSC. Sure, you can see David Tennant in Richard II, but we recommend A Mad World My Masters (June 6th – October 25th): “London, Soho… 1956. Where glamour rubs up against filth, and likes it; where the posh mix with musicians, whores and racketeers; where ‘virginity is no city trade’, and where a dashingly impecunious bachelor in need of quick cash and a good time has to live on his wits.”

Cult theatre sensation Rob Drummond brings his thrilling show ‘Bullet Catch’ to the National Theatre’s ‘The Shed’ on the South Bank.

We caught up with Rob to talk Shed.

How do you feel about bringing Bullet Catch to a National Theatre audience at The Shed?

Bullet Catch. Photo by Niall Walker

I’m relaxed about it because I don’t think there’s much of a difference between a Scottish, American, English, Brazilian audience at all. We’re all just people. We’re all the same so the show should work as well as it has done elsewhere.

It’s the National Theatre though so there’s also a sense of nervousness that I’m sure will grow as opening night approaches. And the new building just adds to the anticipation and excitement – The Shed is an amazing venue that creates a sense of theatricality all on its own.

Can you sum up what makes your shows different – what SHOULDN’T the audience expect?

Shows, multiple? What makes my shows different from other people’s shows?

I can’t answer that because I like to think all my shows are different from each other. Style after all is, as Hitchcock once said, self plagiarism. What makes Bullet Catch different?

Well, let me think. It’s not a traditional play with a fourth wall but there is a narrative. It’s a theatre show with magic or a magic show with theatre. They shouldn’t expect to sit passively and watch but neither should they expect to be forced to do anything they don’t want to do, the show is semi-improvised so anything could happen.

Are there plans to bring your latest show, Quiz Show, to London?

You will have to ask the Traverse about that. At this stage it’s in the hands of the producers. I wouldn’t say no.

Tell us about your favourite secret/offbeat places in London (food, going out, entertainment, relaxation)?

I don’t know London well at all. I’ve lived in Glasgow all my life, I know Edinburgh, have recently got to know New York a little, but this will be my first time staying in London for more than a few days. I relax mainly by hiding from busy cities so … my bedroom, watching an obscure Spanish Language DVD.

What offbeat events are on your To Do List in the next month or so?

My to do list or the next two years is as follows. Get on a plane. Have gun fired at face multiple times. Get on a plane. Repeat.

What are your favourite things to do for free or little money in London?

The Prince Charles Cinema is fun. I saw Crash there about three years after it came out for about £3. They still have an ‘interval’. Brilliant. And cheap.

What event or product of your own would you like to pimp on To Do List?

Bullet Catch and Quiz Show just got published together. It’s my first publication and it’s available from the National Theatre Book Shop here.

Josh Breach is one of cabaret’s rising stars so catch him while you can this Friday at the Roundhouse as part of the Accidental Festival in an event called ‘Soiree de Cabaret Insolite’.

Whats your new show ‘Fan Male’ all about then?

Growing up in the 90′s the pop machine was very much in motion with programmes like Live & Kicking & SM:TV live! clogging the small screen, shoving pop groups down our throats at every second. Being very much a product of that I explore my relationship to my quintessential pop icons ‘The Girl-band’ with my childhood pin ups The Spice Girls and particularly my love and devotion for Emma Bunton, I try and understand how my affiliation with girl bands and the machinations of the pop industry have had genuine impacts on my identity as the wide-eyed naive teeny-bopper and the self aware tearaway. .

Can you tell us about any of the other acts in the SOIREE DE CABARET INSOLITE?

Its a shame I didn’t get a chance to meet the other acts yet but i’ve heard that they definitely live up to the ‘unique cabaret style performances’, unique being the definitive word ! HisPanic Breakdown explores traditional Spanish culture and folklore to new writing and SPIRITWO are a band who bring the live music stage electro and Theatre rock. All that amongst lip syncing to the Spice Girls ! I mean how else would you want to spend a Friday night.

Tell us about your favourite secret/offbeat places in London (food, going out, entertainment, relaxation)?

Well now that summer’s round the corner I’m looking forward to a going to a place called ‘Franks Cafe‘ which only opens from June to September I think, its on top of a car park in the heart of Peckham and has the most amazing panoramic view of London, drinks are well priced and it closes at the humble time of 10:30, enough time to pick up more drinks and carry on with some friends at home.

What offbeat events are on your To Do List in the next month or so?

Well this isn’t in London but i’m looking forward to going to Liverpool sometime this month for an exhibition on the ‘Art of the Pop Video’ with the videos of Björk, Michael Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Fred Astaire, Man Ray, Madonna, Daft Punk, Lady Gaga and Radiohead I reckon with this as a lineup i’d be in for a right treat !. As well as that I’m looking forward to Holestars ‘Sorry I’m a Lady’ at Vogue Fabrics and the return of Amy Lame’s ‘Unhappy Birthday’ at Camden Peoples Theatre

What are your favourite things to do for free or little money in London?

This sounds really cliché but I really enjoy getting the train to London Bridge, walking along the South Bank over towards Covent Garden and then just sitting there for hours. It sounds boring but I like it because it reminds me of why I love being in London especially when its been a rough day

What’s your ultimate London confession?

When it’s convenient I ‘forget’ the swipe my Oyster.

What event or product of your own would you like to pimp on To Do List?

So Fan Male is on Friday 10th at The Clore Theatre at the Roundhouse but if you can’t make that a preview of the show will be performed 24th of May at the Nursery at London Bridge !

The show will then go away for a few months to be developed into a full length show then will return in the near future.

This spring/summer, Southbank Centre asks the question ‘What makes the perfect neighbourhood?’ with a festival exploding with quirky events, greenery and neighbourly activity.

The festival started on 4 May and promises a wide-ranging programme of themed weekends, performances, talks, outdoor art installations and urban greenery across Southbank Centre’s 21-acre site. The site is to be transformed into a neighbourhood with allotments and fruit trees, a local pub, large-scale murals, flags created by Bob and Roberta Smith and a complete Beanotown opens on 1 June 2013.

www.southbankcentre.co.uk/neighbourhood

From 4 May – 8 September 2013 the festival is going to bring community to the Southbank with:

Beanotown Celebrating the 75th birthday of The Beano, Festival Village in the undercroft of the Queen Elizabeth Hall will be transformed into Beanotown - an imaginary neighbourhood. The fictional home town of Dennis the Menace will feature a museum showcasing, for the very first time, The Beano’s archive and previously untold stories dating back to wartime Britain.

There will be opportunities to get creative with comic drawing sessions expertly led by The Beano’s illustrators and to visit the ‘Prank You Very Much’ stage where you can learn the history of The Beano pranks before unleashing them on your unsuspecting mates or parents.

The Beano Social Club will host fun and games including ‘Table Dennis’, our very own version of Table Tennis, and themed food including ‘The Beano Breville Bar’ where you can make your own toasted sandwiches.

Blooming Marvellous Roof Gardens More areas of the site will be blooming with flowers and greenery including roof plants, a shade garden, a trail of 60 wheelbarrows planted as mini gardens.

Saturday

Soundtracks Festival | Various venues around the Overground | £15

A boutique inner-city festival taking place at various hip venues along the East London side of the Overground including: on the Overground trains themselves, Dalston Roof Park (Dalston), The Geffrye Museum (Dalston), Bussey Building (Peckham), Brunel Museum (Rotherhithe) & the gorgeously designed Canada Water Library. Music-wise expect the next big thing with acts like ‘Woodpecker Wooliams’ a lofi harpist PJ Harvey with a creepy folk twist.
